The Pro-Ject X1 B is a statement turntable that arrives pre-fitted with the Pick it PRO B cartridge, ready to deliver thrillingly pure analogue audio straight out of the box. At its heart is Pro-Ject's True Balanced connection — a technology borrowed from professional recording studios and live sound environments — which eliminates the noise and interference that plague traditional single-ended RCA connections.

When paired with a compatible Pro-Ject True Balanced phono stage (such as the Phono Box S3 B or Phono Box DS3 B), the X1 B utilises the full potential of your cartridge's signal. Unlike conventional RCA connections that discard half the signal, True Balanced preserves everything, resulting in music defined by incredible clarity, free of noise and distortion.

The Chassis

The X1 B is built on an MDF chassis — a deliberate step up from standard particle board — delivering a better sounding and more refined turntable. Eight layers of paint and a hand-polished finish give it a premium look that holds up over time, far outperforming the foil-painting techniques common at this price point.

The Motor

Beneath the surface, a sophisticated DC/AC generator board works alongside an electronic speed control board to deliver clean, stable power to the motor. The motor itself is decoupled from the main plinth via a dedicated suspension system, dramatically reducing vibration transfer to the tonearm and chassis. A stainless steel platter bearing with soft brass bushing and Teflon disc ensures the lowest possible rumble and noise.

The Platter & Sub-platter

The X1 B's sub-platter drive system transfers power from the motor to a heavy, 1.5 kg, 20mm-thick acrylic platter via a precision main bearing. The result is liquid-smooth rotation — a perfect, non-resonant platform for your vinyl records.

The Tonearm

The 8.6" carbon/aluminium sandwich tonearm is incredibly light yet supremely stiff, with excellent resistance to external interference. Finished as a one-piece design with a non-resonant headshell, it offers full azimuth and VTA adjustment for those who want to fine-tune their setup. A TPE-damped counterweight further reduces cartridge-tonearm resonances for cleaner, more accurate playback.

The Cartridge — Pick it PRO B (Pre-fitted)

The X1 B comes pre-fitted with the Pick it PRO B — a revised version of the Pick it PRO cartridge specifically engineered for True Balanced signal transmission. Standard MM cartridges cannot take advantage of a balanced connection, but the Pick it PRO B is designed from the ground up to do exactly that, removing noise and interference for a purer signal path from stylus to speaker.

Speed Control

Electronic speed switching makes changing between 33⅓, 45, and 78 RPM effortless — just a single button press. The DC/AC generator board ensures each speed is held with exceptional precision and stability.
