10-Port Flexibility — 6x RJ45 and 4x SFP Fibre

The N1 provides ten ports in total, combining two fundamentally different connection technologies for maximum flexibility:

4x SFP Fibre Ports — Optical fibre networking provides complete galvanic isolation between the N1 and any connected device. Because fibre carries light rather than electrical signals, it is physically impossible for electrical noise or ground loops to travel across the connection. For the most sensitive hi-fi components — streamers, DACs, network players — fibre input via SFP delivers the ultimate in noise-free network connectivity.

6x Gigabit RJ45 Copper Ports — Six copper Ethernet ports allow all your network equipment to connect to the same hub, eliminating the cheap and electrically noisy consumer switches that are often found in audio systems. Rock-solid wired Gigabit connections provide maximum stability and bandwidth for every device on your network.

Internal Linear Power Supply — Toroidal Transformer

Unlike standard network switches that rely on noisy switching power adapters, the LUMIN N1 houses its high-performance linear power stage entirely within the unit. An extra-large toroidal transformer provides clean, stable power delivery with the low-noise characteristic that audiophile electronics demand, while a dedicated low-noise linear regulator further refines the power before it reaches the switching circuitry.

Crucially, the entire power supply is housed within a shielded compartment, ensuring zero interference with the delicate network signals passing through the N1. This level of internal isolation is what separates a purpose-designed audiophile switch from any consumer alternative.

External 10MHz Clock Input — System-Wide Timing Coherence

While the N1 features a high-stability internal clock, a 10MHz BNC input allows synchronisation with an external master clock for absolute timing accuracy. This is ideal for use with the LUMIN U2X's clock output, or with a dedicated third-party master clock generator. Synchronising your network switch and your streamer to a single unified timing reference operates the entire system on a low-jitter, coherent clock — a meaningful performance benefit in the most revealing systems.
