The Audio-Technica AT-LP5X is a fully manual direct-drive turntable that builds on the acclaimed AT-LP5. A low-noise direct-drive motor turns an anti-resonance die-cast aluminium platter at 33-1/3, 45 or 78 RPM, all housed in a mass-damped, high-density polymer cabinet with an elegant matte black finish.

Its J-shaped tonearm takes its inspiration from classic Audio-Technica designs of the 1960s and '70s and is engineered to minimise tracking error. The arm comes fitted with the AT-HS6 lightweight headshell and the AT-VM95E Dual Moving Magnet cartridge, which takes the full range of VM95 replacement styli.

A built-in phono pre-amplifier with a gain switch for MM and MC cartridges lets you connect to an amplifier with or without a phono input, and USB output lets you record your vinyl to a computer. A heavy rubber damping mat improves low-frequency reproduction, and the external AC adapter keeps power conversion outside the chassis to reduce noise.
