Cayin - Jazz 70 - EL34 Integrated Tube Amplifier

A handcrafted Cayin Jazz 70 EL34 integrated tube amplifier with point-to-point wiring, triode/ultralinear switching (17W or 35W per channel), Bluetooth 5.1 with LDAC and aptX HD via ESS ES9018K2M DAC, headphone output, dual VU meters for bias monitoring, toroidal transformer and remote control. Available in Silver and Black.

The Entry Point into the Jazz Class

The Cayin Jazz 70 is a handcrafted integrated tube amplifier designed for music lovers who want the characteristic warmth and expressivity of classic valve amplification, combined with the convenience and connectivity of a modern high-fidelity component. Elegant in its retro aesthetic, serious in its engineering, and versatile in everyday use, the Jazz 70 makes the world of EL34 tube sound more accessible without compromise to the fundamentals that matter.

Classic EL34 Push-Pull Architecture

The Jazz 70's output stage is built around four matched EL34 output tubes operating in a Class AB1 push-pull configuration — one of the most musically proven topologies in tube amplifier design. The EL34's combination of power, harmonic richness and tonal refinement makes it a perennial favourite among audiophiles, and the Jazz 70 gives this classic tube room to express its full character. The preamplifier stage employs three 12AU7 (ECC82) tubes, providing a warm and detailed foundation for the signal before it reaches the output stage.

All internal wiring is point-to-point — the traditional hand-soldered construction method that demands greater craft and care than printed circuit board assembly, but rewards the extra effort with a more resolute, lower-noise signal path.

Triode and Ultralinear Modes — Two Amplifiers in One

One of the Jazz 70's most compelling features is its selectable operating mode — a choice that is not merely a preference setting, but a genuinely different sonic and musical experience:

Triode Mode — 17W + 17W RMS In triode configuration, the EL34 tubes are wired to operate as pure triodes, delivering a smooth, refined and intimate presentation with exceptional harmonic richness and fine-detail resolution. Triode mode is the listener's choice for late-night sessions, acoustic music and recordings where texture and tonal beauty take precedence over scale and power.

Ultralinear Mode — 35W + 35W RMS Ultralinear mode doubles the available output power, delivering greater dynamic authority, control and energy — making the Jazz 70 capable of driving a wider range of loudspeakers to higher volumes without strain. This is the mode for orchestral music, rock, and demanding loudspeakers that benefit from more headroom and control.

Toroidal Transformer & EI Output Transformers

Cayin has equipped the Jazz 70 with a handcrafted toroidal power transformer with low magnetic stray field — a design that reduces interference between the power supply and the sensitive audio circuitry while delivering stable, high-quality power throughout the chassis. The output transformers use an EI core design with a wide frequency response, contributing directly to the Jazz 70's extended bandwidth of 8Hz–60kHz (-3dB) and its clean, natural power delivery.

Bluetooth 5.1 with LDAC & aptX HD

The Jazz 70 integrates a high-performance Bluetooth input built around the Qualcomm QCC5125 chipset and an ESS ES9018K2M DAC — one of the finest DAC chips used in dedicated audiophile designs. The result is wireless playback quality that is genuinely worthy of a high-end tube amplifier:

• LDAC — Sony's high-resolution wireless codec, transmitting up to 990kbps for near-lossless wireless audio
• aptX HD — 24-bit high-resolution Bluetooth audio
• aptX LL — ultra-low latency for video synchronisation
• aptX, AAC, SBC — broad device compatibility
• Bluetooth 5.1, range up to 10 metres, device name: Cayin HD BT

Dual VU Meters — Retro Function Meets Practical Utility

The pair of VU meters on the Jazz 70's front panel are not merely decorative. They display the real-time output power of each channel and serve as the interface for bias adjustment and bias monitoring of the EL34 output tubes. This dual function — aesthetic statement and practical tool — is a characteristic expression of Cayin's approach to instrument-forward amplifier design.

Headphone Output & Remote Control

A dedicated headphone output accommodates headphones from 16Ω to 300Ω, extending the Jazz 70's versatility for private listening without the need for a separate headphone amplifier. A full remote control is included for convenient operation from the listening position. A removable metal tube cage protects the EL34 and 12AU7 tubes when required.
