Devialet was founded in Paris in 2007 by three engineers — Quentin Sannie, Pierre-Emmanuel Calmel, and Emmanuel Nardin — who asked a question that most of the audio industry considered settled: was it truly impossible to build an amplifier that combined the power and dynamic range of Class A/B solid-state with the harmonic purity of pure Class A, in a form factor small enough to live in a modern home? Their answer, after years of development, was a patented circuit topology they called Analog Digital Hybrid (ADH) — and the result was an amplifier unlike anything that had existed before. Devialet's Paris headquarters now employs more than 200 engineers, all working on the same fundamental problem: how to make extraordinary sound reproduction physically accessible.

ENGINEERING PHILOSOPHY

Devialet's ADH technology combines a digital switching amplifier — which provides power efficiency and thermal management — with an analogue Class A amplifier that handles the output signal. The digital stage provides power; the analogue stage provides purity. The result measures at distortion levels below 0.001% and signal-to-noise ratios that exceed anything achievable through conventional analogue design. The Phantom series takes this further, integrating the amplification, digital processing, and acoustic driver system into a single sealed enclosure, eliminating the cables, connectors, and impedance mismatches that compromise conventional component systems. The SAM (Speaker Active Matching) system applies a unique equalisation profile derived from physical modelling of the acoustic drivers, allowing the system to operate closer to the physical limits of the drivers than any passive crossover could achieve.
