A meaningful step beyond the entry level. The EGM SoundWire Spectra combines 13AWG silver-plated OFC conductors, FEP insulation, a dual-layer EMI/RFI shielding system, and a flexible 8mm purple silicone outer sheath — bridging the gap between entry-level and reference-grade performance for high-resolution audio systems. Designed and built in Australia. Recommended minimum length: 2 metres.
The Step Up That Makes Itself Heard
There is a tier of power cable that lies between the commodity and the reference — where premium materials meet a practical form factor, and where the improvement over a standard cable is immediately and consistently audible. The EGM SoundWire Spectra occupies that tier precisely.
Engineered as the mid-tier cable in the SoundWire range — above the Wave series, below the Fusion and Eclipse — the Spectra delivers a noticeable performance upgrade through the combination of ASTM B298 Class A silver-plated OFC conductors, premium FEP insulation, and a comprehensive dual-layer EMI/RFI shielding system. It is the ideal choice for listeners who are ready to move beyond entry-level power cables into a product that has been designed and built in Australia with genuine audiophile intent — at a price that makes it accessible across a wide range of system configurations.
The Spectra improves sound and picture quality for both audio and AV components. Its 8mm purple silicone outer sheath is flexible and easy to position. Its dual-layer shielding is effective at both high and low frequencies. Its silver-plated conductors perform like those in the Fusion and Eclipse. And its 3rd generation gold-plated solid copper terminations are built to last.
13AWG Silver-Plated OFC — Class A Plating
The Spectra's three conductors are 2.5mm² (13AWG) extra-fine stranded Class 5 annealed OFC 99.9% — the same quality of base copper used in the higher-tier Fusion and Eclipse cables — with ASTM B298 Class A silver plating. Class A plating provides excellent conductivity, outstanding corrosion resistance, and optimised high-frequency current conduction associated with the skin effect. Each conductor comprises 64 individual 0.2mm strands, providing the fine-stranded construction that delivers both exceptional flexibility and low resistance across the cable's lifetime.
The oversized 13AWG cross-section ensures the Spectra operates well below its current limit in any typical audio application — meaning low resistance, minimal voltage drop, and a stable, consistent current supply to any connected component.
FEP Insulation — Premium Dielectric Performance
Each conductor is individually insulated with Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene (FEP) — one of the audio industry's most highly regarded dielectric materials. FEP's exceptionally low dielectric constant and minimal energy absorption ensure the power waveform is delivered with far greater fidelity than conventional PVC insulation. FEP provides outstanding thermal stability (-10°C to +200°C), high insulation resistance, and superior resistance to moisture and chemicals — a level of insulation quality shared with the Fusion and Eclipse.
Dual-Layer EMI/RFI Shielding
Like the Fusion and Eclipse above it, the Spectra employs a two-layer shielding system. A 100% coverage aluminium/Mylar foil shield provides highly effective suppression of high-frequency EMI and RFI — the switching noise, Wi-Fi radiation, and digital interference that infiltrate audio systems through the power line. Over the foil, a 99.9% tinned copper braided shield with minimum 85% braid coverage provides effective low-frequency EMI shielding, a low-impedance earth path, and superior mechanical durability with enhanced long-term corrosion resistance.
A Mylar (PET) binder tape beneath the shielding maintains cable geometry, securely binds the cable core, and provides a smooth bedding layer for improved manufacturing consistency and long-term reliability.
Flexible 8mm Purple Silicone Sheath — Easy to Position
The Spectra's RS-150 silicone elastomer outer sheath — rated to 180°C and finished in a distinctive purple — provides exceptional flexibility alongside outstanding resistance to UV, ozone, moisture, oils, acids, and industrial chemicals. At 8mm outer diameter, the Spectra is significantly more versatile in placement than the larger Fusion and Eclipse — easier to route behind equipment, around tight corners, and into challenging installation positions — without any compromise to the quality of the materials or construction within.
3rd Generation Gold-Plated Solid Copper Terminations — Designed & Built in Australia
The Spectra is terminated with EGM's 3rd generation 10A 250V AC AU/NZ gold-plated solid copper pin male plug with IEC C19, C15, or C7 plug ends. The AU/NZ wall plug is enclosed in a hefty non-resonating black barrel. Cable ends are further protected with a thick heat-shrink cover for safety and long-term reliability. Designed and built in Australia, the Spectra carries EGM's Limited Lifetime Warranty.

🥈 Class A Silver-Plated OFC — 13AWG, 64-Strand
ASTM B298 Class A silver plating over 99.9% OFC copper — 64 individual 0.2mm strands per conductor, 13AWG cross-section. The same quality of base conductor as the Fusion and Eclipse, in an oversized gauge that operates well below its current limit.
🔇 Dual-Layer EMI/RFI Shielding
100% aluminium/Mylar foil shield + minimum 85% tinned copper braided shield — the same two-layer shielding architecture as the Fusion and Eclipse, providing broad-spectrum EMI and RFI suppression and a low-impedance earth path.
🔬 FEP Insulation — Shared with Fusion & Eclipse
Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene insulation on each conductor — one of the audio industry's lowest-loss dielectric materials, delivering the same insulation quality as the premium tier SoundWire cables in a mid-range power cable.
🇦🇺 Designed & Built in Australia — Limited Lifetime Warranty
3rd generation gold-plated solid copper AU/NZ terminations, non-resonating barrel ends, heat-shrink protected cable ends, and EGM's Limited Lifetime Warranty — designed and built in Australia for long-term reliability.
