A significant upgrade over a standard power lead — without the reference-grade price. The EGM SoundWire Wave combines 2.0mm² OFC copper conductors (twice the diameter of standard entry-level cables), PE insulation, a dual-layer EMI/RFI shielding system, and EGM's 3rd generation gold-plated solid copper terminations — in a flexible 9mm sky-blue silicone sheath. The starting point for better power delivery.

The Starting Point for Better Power

Every system has to start somewhere. And for those who understand that the power cable is not interchangeable with the lead that came in the box — but who are not yet ready to step into the premium or reference tiers — the EGM SoundWire Wave is the right beginning.

Engineered as the entry-level model in the SoundWire range, the Wave is designed for music enthusiasts seeking a significant upgrade over standard power leads without compromising on quality, reliability, or performance. It brings a meaningfully higher grade of materials and construction than any standard OEM power cable — with 2.0mm² OFC copper conductors at a minimum of twice the diameter of typical entry-level cables, a dual-layer aluminium foil and copper braid shielding system, and EGM's own 3rd generation gold-plated solid copper terminations in a distinctive sky-blue silicone sheath.

The Wave is the cable that makes the case for audiophile power cables at their most accessible.

2.0mm² OFC Conductors — Twice the Standard

The Wave's three conductors are 2.0mm² extra-fine stranded Class 5 annealed OFC 99.9% copper — providing excellent flexibility, high conductivity, and long-term reliability. At a minimum of twice the conductor diameter of standard entry-level power cables, the Wave delivers a meaningfully lower-resistance current path than the OEM cable it replaces, with better current-carrying capacity and reduced voltage drop under sustained load.

The high purity OFC copper ensures that the signal path through the conductor is as clean and consistent as possible — a step up from the standard electrolytic copper used in commodity power cables, and a material choice that is shared with the higher-tier Spectra, Fusion, and Eclipse.

PE Insulation — Lower Dielectric Loss Than Standard PVC

Each conductor is insulated with Polyethylene (PE) — a material with significantly lower dielectric losses than the standard PVC insulation used in OEM power cables. Where PVC insulation absorbs and releases energy from the conductor — introducing distortion into the power waveform — PE insulation's lower dielectric constant produces less of this effect, preserving the integrity of the power delivery. The operating temperature range is -10°C to +90°C, suited to any standard audio and AV installation environment.

Dual-Layer EMI/RFI Shielding

Like all SoundWire cables, the Wave incorporates a comprehensive dual-layer shielding system. A 100% coverage aluminium/Mylar foil shield provides effective high-frequency EMI and RFI suppression — helping to minimise the switching noise, Wi-Fi interference, and radio frequency hash that infiltrate audio systems through the mains supply. Over the foil, a 99.9% copper braided shield with minimum 85% braid coverage provides low-frequency EMI shielding, a low-impedance grounding path, and enhanced mechanical durability.

This combination of foil and braid shielding is a design feature shared across the entire SoundWire range — bringing the same fundamental noise management approach to the entry-level Wave that defines the premium Spectra, Fusion, and Eclipse.

Sky-Blue PVC Outer Sheath — 9mm, Flexible

The Wave's outer sheath is a high-flexibility PVC jacket rated to 90°C — practical, durable, and finished in a distinctive sky-blue that sets it apart visually from any standard power cable in the system. At 9mm outer diameter, the Wave is flexible and easy to position around equipment and in tight spaces. A Mylar (PET) tape binder beneath the shielding maintains cable geometry and provides a smooth bedding layer for manufacturing consistency and long-term reliability.

EGM 3rd Generation Gold-Plated Terminations

The Wave is terminated with EGM's 3rd generation gold-plated solid copper AU/NZ wall plug and IEC connector — housed within anti-resonant barrel ends, with 100mm protective heat-shrink covers on both cable ends for safety and long-term reliability. Available in a variety of custom lengths and IEC plug top options.

Recommended Applications

  • Entry-level and mid-range hi-fi systems
  • AV receivers and integrated amplifiers
  • CD players, DACs and streamers
  • Powered subwoofers
  • Home theatre systems
  • High-quality replacement for standard OEM power cords
  • All audio and AV applications

EGM recommends a minimum length of 2 metres for best performance.

Feature Cards

🔌 2.0mm² OFC Conductors — Twice the Standard

Extra-fine stranded Class 5 OFC 99.9% copper at 2.0mm² — a minimum of twice the conductor diameter of typical entry-level cables — delivering lower resistance, better current capacity, and a more consistent power supply than any standard OEM lead.

🔇 Dual-Layer EMI/RFI Shielding

100% aluminium/Mylar foil shield + minimum 85% copper braided shield — the same dual-layer shielding approach as the Spectra, Fusion, and Eclipse — providing effective suppression of high- and low-frequency interference across the full SoundWire range.

💙 Sky-Blue Silicone Sheath — Flexible & Distinctive

A 9mm sky-blue outer sheath that is immediately identifiable, practically flexible, and easy to position — the Wave stands out from every generic black power cable in any system.

🏅 EGM 3rd Generation Terminations

Gold-plated solid copper AU/NZ wall plug in an anti-resonant barrel end, with 100mm heat-shrink protected cable ends — EGM's own termination standard applied at every tier of the SoundWire range.

Editorial Blockquote

"Higher grade of materials and construction over standard (non-audio specific) power cables. Minimum twice the diameter of the copper cores of entry level cables, made with a far higher grade of copper." — EGM Audio
