With a wide-body design measuring 388 × 265 × 98.5mm, the DMP-A8 Master Gen 2 delivers a more refined and balanced physical presence than its predecessor. AK4499EXEQ + AK4191EQ — Separated Architecture, Velvet Sound™

The AK4191EQ digital processor and AK4499EXEQ DAC form a separated digital processing and analogue conversion architecture that allows each stage of the signal path to be optimised independently for maximum precision. Combined with AKM's celebrated Velvet Sound™ technology, this configuration preserves more musical detail, achieves a quieter background, and delivers greater spatial separation — making vocals, instruments, and imaging more natural and engaging.

From lossless formats including FLAC, WAV, and APE, through to native DSD512 playback and PCM up to 768kHz/32-bit, every high-resolution source is handled with the fidelity it deserves.

Precision Clock System — OCXO, Femtosecond, and 10MHz External Input

The Master Gen 2's clock system represents a significant advancement over the standard DMP-A8 Gen 2. A high-precision OCXO (Oven-Controlled Crystal Oscillator) uses temperature control to minimise the impact of environmental variations on frequency stability, improving timebase accuracy at the source. PLL (Phase-Locked Loop) technology further synchronises and optimises clock signal behaviour for a more stable and precise overall timing reference.

A femtosecond-level high-precision system clock provides an even more accurate timing foundation across the entire unit — resulting in clearer sonic boundaries, more focused detail, and a more naturally expansive soundstage. For those building reference-level systems, 10MHz adaptive external clock input enables integration with professional-grade standalone clock systems, providing the highest possible timing reference for the entire digital audio chain.

The Master Edition introduces a custom CD playback system, deeply optimised for audio applications. Compared with general-purpose optical drive solutions, it delivers improved operational stability and reading consistency — with high-precision error correction that reduces errors and interference during the reading process, and intelligent duplicate detection for streamlined CD library management.

Electrical Isolation & Eversolo AuralEngine

A comprehensive electrical isolation architecture shields critical circuits from external interference — including connected devices and network-related noise. Key interfaces and internal signal paths are isolated to produce a cleaner signal path, a quieter background, and more clearly defined layers of detail.
