Mission - 778CDT/S Bundle

Every disc you own. Every stream you love. The Mission 778CDT and 778S together form a complete, high-performance digital source bundle — CD transport with TCXO clocking, and Roon Ready streaming DAC with ESS ES9038Q2M 32-bit DAC and balanced XLR outputs.

One System. Every Source.

The Mission 778X integrated amplifier raised the bar for compact hi-fi electronics when it returned Mission to the world of electronics after more than three decades away. The 778CDT and 778S were born from the same philosophy — and together, they form the complete digital front end for any Mission system or any high-performance two-channel setup that demands the best from both physical and streaming sources.

The 778CDT is a dedicated CD transport — precision-built for the ritual of disc playback, with a high-end mechanism, TCXO master clock, and dual SPDIF outputs that allow any connected DAC to perform at its absolute best. The 778S is Mission's first wireless music streamer — Roon Ready, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, and Qobuz Connect, with an ESS Sabre ES9038Q2M 32-bit DAC, balanced XLR analogue outputs, and an onboard headphone amplifier.

Together, in matching compact half-width chassis, they cover every source in the modern music lover's library — with the musical purity, engineering integrity, and visual coherence that define the Mission 778 Series.

778CDT — The Disc Player Done Right

The 778CDT approaches CD playback with the seriousness the format deserves. A high-end mechanism with precision optical system and servo control ensures stable, accurate reading of every disc. A TCXO (temperature-compensated crystal oscillator) master clock minimises jitter at the source — delivering a cleaner, more stable SPDIF signal to the 778S's DAC input than a standard clock ever could. Dedicated low-noise power supplies for each circuit section — transport, laser, decoder, and clock — prevent cross-contamination between the digital and analogue domains.

Coaxial and optical SPDIF outputs ensure full compatibility with the 778S and any other DAC in the system. USB-A playback extends the 778CDT's usefulness beyond the disc library — FLAC, WAV, AIFF, ALAC, APE, and MP3 files stored on USB drives are all handled through the same TCXO-governed signal path.

778S — The Streaming Hub Done Right

The 778S is Mission's first wireless music streamer — and a remarkably complete one. Its ESS Sabre ES9038Q2M 32-bit DAC, with HyperStream architecture and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator, handles every source with exceptional precision: THD below 0.001%, SNR exceeding 120dB via the balanced XLR outputs, and precision upsampling to 352.8kHz or 384kHz that pushes digital artefacts beyond the audible spectrum.

Powered by a Silent Angel streaming platform (custom Mission implementation), the 778S is natively Roon Ready, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, and Qobuz Connect compatible — with dual-band Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet, and the Mission 778S app for effortless control on iOS and Android. Five selectable DAC reconstruction filters allow sonic tailoring. Balanced XLR and RCA analogue outputs, coaxial and optical digital outputs, USB Audio output, and an onboard headphone amplifier complete a connectivity picture without compromise.

Better Together

When the 778CDT feeds the 778S via its coaxial SPDIF output, the combination is particularly compelling — the TCXO master clock of the transport delivering a precisely timed digital signal to the ES9038Q2M DAC's Time Domain Jitter Eliminator, for a level of disc playback performance that a conventional integrated CD player with a built-in DAC cannot match. The DAC's analogue output stage — balanced XLR or RCA — then carries the signal to the 778X or any downstream amplifier with complete integrity.

Two products, the Mission 778CDT and 778S. One coherent, complete digital source system. Stackable, matching, and built to last.
