Building on the outstanding success of the M6si, the M6xi carries the same proven formula — massive power, uncompromising engineering, and true high-end sound — and elevates it with a comprehensively upgraded internal architecture, modern connectivity for today's systems, and refinements drawn directly from Musical Fidelity's legendary TITAN power amplifier.

Son of TITAN — Fully Discrete Dual Monoblock Power Amplifier

The M6xi's power amplifier stage is configured as two fully independent monoblock power amplifiers sharing a single chassis with a separate preamplifier. In practice, this is a preamplifier with two dedicated monoblock amplifiers — and every part of this architecture benefits from technology trickled down directly from the legendary 1kW TITAN power amplifier.

At its core lies a low-distortion Darlington output stage arranged in the classic Musical Fidelity configuration. This design eliminates crossover artefacts while maintaining extremely low residual distortion across the entire frequency range, preserving musical detail and tonal accuracy in a way that competing designs cannot. Two pairs of output devices per channel, combined with an oversized encapsulated toroidal transformer, deliver extraordinary headroom and current capability — 45 amps peak-to-peak, with peak power reaching 280W into 8Ω and 450W into 4Ω.

With 220 watts per channel into 8Ω and 320 watts into 4Ω under continuous conditions, the M6xi possesses the authority to drive the most demanding loudspeakers with complete composure — including through the low-impedance dips that expose lesser amplifiers. All power supplies remain purely analogue during operation, reducing high-frequency noise and minimising EMC-related interference throughout the signal path.

A new PCB layout — the result of meticulous engineering — minimises circuit imbalances that would otherwise require corrective feedback, allowing the amplifier to operate more naturally and transparently. The main transformer and power supply PCB are now encapsulated within a metal enclosure, dramatically reducing electromagnetic interference inside the chassis and benefiting every circuit in the amplifier.

Preamplifier — Precision at Every Level

The M6xi's preamplifier stage is a fully analogue, low-noise design engineered for absolute signal integrity across the entire dynamic range. Volume control is handled by a high-quality Burr-Brown stepped attenuator — a significant advantage over conventional potentiometer designs, offering more precise channel matching, perfectly balanced stereo imaging and consistent tonal accuracy at every listening level.

Whether at quiet background levels or full-scale output, the M6xi preserves microdetail and harmonic accuracy with total harmonic distortion of less than 0.007% and a signal-to-noise ratio exceeding 107dB A-weighted. Upgraded MM/MC Phono Stage

Vinyl playback receives equal attention in the M6xi. The upgraded MM/MC phono stage features an improved PCB layout with enhanced isolation and shielding — a critical consideration given that phono circuits operate at amplification factors up to 1,000×, making them uniquely susceptible to electromagnetic interference. With the transformer and power supply PCB now encapsulated in a dedicated metal enclosure, the phono stage benefits directly, delivering lower noise, lower distortion and greater transparency than ever.

The result is a phono input capable of revealing the full warmth, depth and dynamic nuance of high-quality vinyl recordings, whether from a moving magnet or moving coil cartridge.

The front and side panels are milled from massive extruded aluminium profiles, creating an enclosure that is effectively immune to environmental vibration. The massive aluminium chassis also acts as a Faraday cage — protecting the internal circuitry from external electromagnetic fields while simultaneously shielding the rest of your system from any fields generated by the M6xi itself.
