A Brand New Platter — 730g Die-Cast Aluminium

The foundation of great vinyl playback is a stable, quiet, resonance-free platform — and the E1.2's new 730g die-cast aluminium main platter is exactly that. Heavy enough to resist the micro-vibrations that corrupt the groove signal, damped to absorb rather than reflect energy, and precision-balanced in an additional manufacturing step to ensure an evenly spinning platter free from the wobble and drift that lesser designs exhibit.

Beneath the platter, a precision glass fibre reinforced ABS sub platter (manufactured to 0.001% tolerance) and a stainless steel axle and ball in a bronze bushing bearing ensure smooth, low-noise rotation — the quiet mechanical foundation from which all detail retrieval flows.

CNC-Machined Aluminium Tonearm — No Hollow Spaces, No Compromises

The E1.2's tonearm is crafted from CNC-machined aluminium — a manufacturing approach that eliminates the hollow spaces found in conventional cast tonearms, leaving no room for the unwanted resonances and vibrations that hollow construction harbours. This is an audiophile engineering principle applied to an entry-level product, and its sonic benefit is immediately audible: cleaner, more stable groove tracing from the first play.

At its core is a high-mass gimbal design with a precision pinpoint bearing system featuring zero play — offering solid tracking stability and the smooth, controlled movement that produces clean, well-resolved sound. An oversized-diameter TPE decoupled counterweight, positioned closer to the moving parts than a conventional design, improves balance and tracking for better detail and bass response.

The phono cartridge is the most sonically critical component of any turntable. It transforms the physical groove modulations of a record into an electrical signal — and the quality of that transformation determines the base quality of everything you hear. The E1.2's Pick it MM E is not an afterthought: it is a premium cartridge, chosen for its ability to extract warm, smooth, detailed sound from any record in any genre.

A low-mass generating system — achieved through a miniature neodymium generator magnet — reduces inertia for improved tracking accuracy. A conical diamond tip delivers warm, smooth, high-quality audio reproduction with low background noise. A highly damped ABS body reduces vibration-induced colouration to a vanishing level. And Pro-Ject's factory technicians pre-adjust every cartridge before shipment, so the tracking force, anti-skate, and azimuth are correctly set from the moment the turntable arrives.

Handmade in the Czech Republic

Every Pro-Ject E1.2 is handmade at Pro-Ject's own factory in the Czech Republic — a process that includes chassis preparation and painting, motor control assembly, and final turntable assembly by skilled technicians. Four damping feet decouple the turntable from its surface and reduce the risk of acoustic feedback. An acrylic dustcover is included as standard.
