A ribbon tweeter, where diaphragm and motor are one system, sets these pre-loved Quads apart for listeners who put vocals at the centre of their system. They are in excellent condition and ready for a new home.
The tweeter has no separate voice coil attached to its diaphragm, a layout intended to keep the path from driver to ear direct. The midrange has a woven glass fibre cone and a double roll surround, designed to control edge breakup so vocals keep even transparency. The bass uses an acoustic filter in place of a conventional port, intended to avoid chuffing, and as a rear-ported design it will respond to wall spacing, a point to raise with us.
These suit a dedicated two-channel room where vocal and orchestral records take the lead. At 1175mm tall and 23.5kg each, amplifier matching and room placement are the decisions to walk through with us, by phone or in person.
