True DSD to Any External DAC

The defining capability of the Zenith XST20 is its ability to output SACD content in its true DSD quality to any external DAC equipped with DSD input capabilities. Most transports at this level compromise — the XST20 does not. Whether via native DSD64 over I2S or DoP (DSD over PCM) across its other digital outputs, the full resolution of every SACD in your collection is preserved and delivered exactly as it was mastered.

FPGA-Assisted I2S — 10 Pinout Configurations

The XST20's I2S output is the jewel in its connectivity crown. FPGA-assisted and configurable across 10 different pinout modes, it offers the broadest possible compatibility with third-party DACs equipped with I2S inputs — from PS Audio to Denafrips, Matrix and beyond. This is the only output that delivers true native DSD64 from SACD, without the DoP wrapper required by other interfaces.

All settings — including I2S pinout configuration — are accessible directly from the 3.4" HD colour touchscreen on the front panel, making setup intuitive and reconfiguration effortless.

DoP (DSD over PCM) is a widely adopted protocol that allows DSD data to be transmitted over standard PCM interfaces without any loss of quality, enabling the XST20 to deliver SACD's full sonic character even to DACs without a dedicated I2S input.

Sanyo HD870 Disc Mechanism

At the mechanical heart of the Zenith XST20 sits the Sanyo HD870 optical drive — a precision disc mechanism chosen for its reliable reading, low noise operation and smooth, stable disc handling. Top-Loading Design with Glass Disc Puck

Like the celebrated Shanling ET3, the Zenith XST20 embraces a top-loading disc mechanism paired with a large, heavy glass disc puck that doubles as a lid. The top-loading approach offers inherent mechanical advantages over tray-loading designs — reduced vibration, improved disc stability and a more direct, resonance-damping interface between the disc and the mechanism. It is also, simply, a more engaging and tactile way to play a record.

3.4" HD Colour Touchscreen

A 3.4-inch HD colour touchscreen on the front panel provides clear, beautiful playback information and intuitive access to all transport settings — including I2S pinout configuration, MQA decoding mode and display preferences. Remote control is also included for operation from the listening seat.
