The Borea with a vintage spirit. The Triangle BR05 is a large-format 2-way bookshelf speaker with a 21cm custom cellulose midwoofer, 25mm EFS silk dome tweeter, DVAS vibration absorption, front-firing double bass-reflex port, 21mm MDF reinforced cabinet, dual binding posts for bi-wiring and bi-amplification, and a supplied tilting base. Available in five finishes. Fills rooms from 15 to 45m². Manufactured in Soissons, France.
A Modern Take on Vintage
With the BR05, Triangle expands the Borea range with a bookshelf speaker of a different character — one that reaches back to an era when loudspeakers fully claimed their place in the living space, and when the presence of a speaker in a room was something to be embraced rather than concealed. The BR05 embodies a certain vision of hi-fi: lively, open sound capable of filling the room with energy, in a format that makes a visual statement as confidently as an acoustic one.
Its 21cm midwoofer gives it a generous format unprecedented in the Borea bookshelf range. Its retro-chic aesthetic — five finishes combining warm wood-toned cabinets with solid-colour front panels — gives it a distinctive identity that sits equally at home in a contemporary interior and a more vintage-inspired space. And its ability to fill rooms from 15 to 45m² positions it as a genuine alternative to floorstanding speakers for listeners who want the scale and impact of a larger design without the footprint.
A Custom-Designed 21cm Midwoofer — Natural Cellulose Cone
At the heart of the BR05 is an all-new 21cm midwoofer, developed specifically for this model. Far from focusing solely on power in the low frequencies, much of the development work was dedicated to the quality of the midrange — an essential element in the speaker's musicality.
The cone is made from 100% natural cellulose pulp — an emblematic Triangle material — chosen for its ability to promote rich and nuanced reproduction of timbres, bringing voices and instruments a true sense of texture and presence. This untreated paper texture contributes warmth and character that synthetic cone materials struggle to replicate. Every element, from the cone profile to the choice of dust cap, has been carefully adjusted to achieve the best coherence between scale and finesse — producing a generous listening experience that combines deep bass with midrange subtlety.
EFS Tweeter — Homogeneous High-Frequency Diffusion
True to Borea DNA, the BR05 integrates Triangle's EFS (Efficient Flow System) tweeter — a technology specific to the Borea range, combining a 25mm silk dome with a phase plug designed to homogenise high-frequency diffusion across the listening space. The result is a precise, consistent soundstage that rewards both on-axis and off-axis listening, with a treble character that is extended and detailed without brightness or fatigue.
Optimised Cabinet — 21mm MDF, DVAS, Triple Bracing
The BR05's cabinet was designed not simply to house its large-diameter driver, but to reveal its full potential. Made from high-density MDF panels up to 21mm thick, it provides exceptional rigidity and contributes directly to low-frequency control.
The BR05 integrates Triangle's exclusive DVAS (Driver Vibration Absorption System) — an architecture developed to absorb the vibrations generated by the driver, in which a high-density EVA foam gasket connects the rear of the motor to an internal brace. This structure helps dissipate part of the mechanical energy before it can excite the cabinet walls and colour the sound.
Two additional internal braces, positioned in the upper and lower sections of the cabinet, increase mechanical rigidity, reduce unwanted resonances, and contribute to a more natural, dynamic, and faithful reproduction. Three-point bracing of this kind is typically found in far more expensive speaker designs.
Double Front-Firing Bass-Reflex Port — Controlled Airflow, Flexible Placement
The 21cm driver's high excursion capability means it moves a significant volume of air. Using a single port could have generated excessive air velocity at high listening levels, leading to turbulence and audible port noise. The BR05's double port solution distributes airflow over a larger surface area — improving bass clarity, improving power handling, and delivering deep, perfectly controlled low frequencies at any volume.
Critically, both ports fire from the front of the speaker — making placement significantly more flexible than a rear-ported design, as there are no constraints related to distance from the rear wall.
Audiophile Crossover — Air-Core Inductors, Polyester Film Capacitors
The BR05's passive crossover is designed with rigorously selected components: large-gauge air-core inductors to limit losses, polyester film capacitors, and cement resistors chosen for their reliability and long-term stability. This component selection helps preserve the integrity of the audio signal and ensures precise, transparent, and homogeneous reproduction across the full frequency range.
Dual binding posts are compatible with bi-wiring and bi-amplification — allowing separate amplification for bass and treble, refining their control and making full use of the speaker's acoustic potential.
Two Setup Options — Supplied Base or Optional S03 Stand
The BR05 offers two setup configurations. It is supplied with a base that tilts the speaker 10° towards the listening area — optimising diffusion and soundstage coherence while keeping a reduced visual footprint in the room. For more demanding installations, the optional S03 stand positions the speaker at an ideal listening height, enhancing both sonic potential and visual presence. The S03 is available in Black and White.
Removable magnetic grilles are included for a clean, unobtrusive appearance when desired.

🎵 Custom 21cm Midwoofer — 100% Natural Cellulose Cone
Developed specifically for the BR05, this all-new driver delivers deep, controlled bass with exceptional midrange texture. Its 100% natural cellulose pulp cone brings voices and instruments warm tonal character and a true sense of presence that synthetic materials cannot match.
🔊 EFS Tweeter — Precise, Homogeneous Dispersion
Triangle's Borea-exclusive EFS (Efficient Flow System) tweeter combines a 25mm silk dome with a phase plug for consistent, fatigue-free high-frequency diffusion across the full listening space.
🏗️ DVAS + Triple Bracing + 21mm MDF Cabinet
Driver Vibration Absorption System, three internal braces, and high-density 21mm MDF panels work together to dissipate mechanical energy, reduce cabinet resonance, and preserve the naturalness and dynamics of the reproduction.
📐 Front-Firing Double Port — Five Finishes, Two Positions
Double front-firing bass-reflex ports for controlled, turbulence-free bass at any volume — and flexible placement without rear-wall constraints. Five retro-chic finishes. Supplied tilting base or optional S03 stand.
