Denon AV Receivers

Denon AV receivers in our range run from 7.2-channel models such as the AVR-X1800H and AVR-X2900H to the 15-channel AVC-A1H, with nine, eleven and thirteen-channel models in between. Many share HEOS streaming and Audyssey room correction, so the real decisions are how many speakers the room will run and how you want to correct for that room.

Denon receivers for living rooms

The AVR-X1800H and AVR-X2900H can run a traditional 7.2 layout or 5.2.2 Dolby Atmos with two height speakers. The X1800H is aimed at small to medium rooms, with 8K HDMI, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and HEOS. The X2900H lists 95 watts per channel, Audyssey MultEQ XT, a moving magnet phono input and gaming-optimised connections.

The AVR-X2800H also sits here, with 95 watts, 8K video and HEOS, designed with a medium-sized room in mind.

Nine to fifteen channels for cinema rooms

The AVC-X3900H is a 9.4-channel AV amplifier at 105 watts per channel, with 11.4-channel processing and Auro-3D, IMAX Enhanced and 360 Reality Audio alongside Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. Its four independent subwoofer outputs let each sub be managed separately, useful when placing subwoofers is a compromise. The AVC-X3800H supports up to 11.4 pre-amp channels with Auro-3D and IMAX Enhanced, and the AVC-X4800H drives 9.4 channels and is designed, manufactured and tuned in Japan.

The AVC-X6800 has 11.4 channels of amplification, each built as a mono block, plus 13.4 pre-outs and three zones. The AVR-A10H and AVC-A10H drive up to 13 speakers and four subwoofers at 150 watts per channel, with each channel on its own circuit board and nine dual-channel DACs, and the AVC-A10H has a pre-amp mode for separate power amplification later. The AVC-A1H runs 15 channels at 150 watts each and supports a 9.4.6 layout.

Audyssey and Dirac Live room correction

Every room shapes how a system sounds, and room correction is designed to measure that and compensate. Audyssey is built into models such as the AVR-X1800H, AVR-X2900H, AVC-X3900H and AVC-X6800, and the X2900H and X3900H set it up from measurements taken with the supplied microphone. The AVR-X2900H, AVC-X3900H, AVC-X4800H, AVC-X6800 and both A10H models also offer a Dirac Live upgrade path, so correction can go beyond Audyssey.

Questions we get asked

Should I choose the AVR-X1800H or the AVR-X2900H?

Both handle 7.2 or 5.2.2 Atmos with HEOS streaming. The X1800H is aimed at small to medium rooms, while the X2900H lists 95 watts per channel and an optional Dirac Live upgrade, which suits a system where room correction may be taken further later. Tell us your speakers and room and we'll help you decide.

Can I connect a turntable to a Denon AV receiver?

Yes. Models such as the AVR-X2900H, AVC-X3900H, AVC-X6800 and both A10H models have a moving magnet phono input, so a moving magnet cartridge connects directly. A moving coil cartridge needs a separate phono preamp.

How many height speakers can a Denon receiver run?

A 7.2-channel model such as the AVR-X2900H runs two in a 5.2.2 layout, while the AVC-A1H supports six in a 9.4.6 layout. Height channels often come from in-ceiling speakers, and their position relative to your seats matters, so the team can help with layout.
