Our outdoor speakers take the music out to the deck, patio, pool area or garden, with wall-mounted, landscape and bollard designs from Monitor Audio, Definitive Technology, Polk, Bowers & Wilkins and Wharfedale. You'll also find a complete landscape system and outdoor subwoofers, some designed to sit partly in the ground. Speakers for decks, patios and verandahs

Monitor Audio has the widest choice here: the Climate 50, 60, 60-T2 and 80 and the Climate 3G CL2 S and CL2 M. All are wall-mountable and use C-CAM drivers, such as the 4-inch bass-mid in the CL2 S and the 6.5-inch bass driver in the Climate 60. Polk covers this ground with the Atrium 4, 5, 6 and 8 SDI, Bowers & Wilkins with the AM-1, Marine 6 and Marine 8, and Wharfedale with the WOS-65. The Definitive Technology Dymension AW-650 is a surface-mount design aimed at larger outdoor spaces.

Garden speakers that sit in the landscape

For gardens, the speakers can live among the plants rather than on the house. Definitive Technology's Dymension LS-6.1 is a complete system of six LS-400 landscape speakers on ground stakes and one LS-80 subwoofer, and its BL-550 and BL-650 bollards each add a passive bass radiator in a compact footprint. Monitor Audio's CLG range pairs the CLG140 and CLG160 satellites with the CLG-W10 and CLG-W12 subwoofers, the CLG-W12 being an in-ground bandpass design.

IP ratings on outdoor speakers

An IP rating has two digits: the first covers dust and solids, the second covers water. Where a product description states one, we give it here. The Wharfedale WOS-65 is rated IP67, the Climate 3G CL2 S, CL2 M and Dymension AW-650 IP66, the BL-550 and BL-650 bollards IP56 and the LS-100 burial subwoofer IP54. A rating describes a standardised test, not a promise about any particular spot, so for a model without a stated rating, or an exposed position, talk to the team first.

Questions we get asked

What do outdoor speakers need to run?

Speakers like these are usually passive, so they need an amplifier, either a separate zone from your main system or a dedicated amp such as one of our integrated amplifiers. Cable runs, the number of speakers and how many areas you want to play are the things to plan first, and we can confirm what a particular model needs.

Do I need an outdoor subwoofer?

Small speakers in open air have less bass to work with, because there are no walls to reinforce it, so a subwoofer is often added. Outdoor subwoofers like the Dymension LS-100 and Monitor Audio CLG-W12 are designed to be partly buried or set into the ground, so the garden stays the feature.

Can I use the same speakers inside?

Some are made for both. The Monitor Audio Vecta V240 and the Polk Atrium 5 and Atrium 8 SDI are listed as indoor/outdoor models. For rooms where you'd rather not see a speaker at all, look at our in-ceiling speakers.
